Murray-Darling Basin FishGen Business Plan
A challenge for fisheries researchers and managers is to differentiate between fish that are hatchery-bred and released, and those that are wild-bred, when assessing the effectiveness of management programs in contributing to native fish populations. Recently, however, genetic marking techniques have provided a solution to this problem.
Forest Hill (then Scott Williams Consulting) and Miracle Dog were selected to prepare a business plan for a proposed 'FishGen' program for the Murray-Darling Basin (MDB) and potentially other catchments across Australia.
The plan was prepared for NSW Department of Primary Industries - Fisheries acting on behalf of the various jurisdictions of the MDB.
